   Kurt was prepared to take on anything that might try to get in our way.  Don't worry...we made it to the top of the hill and back down again safely.  (He only had to fight the elephant grass.)

Settling Into Life at the Education Center

We finally made it to the Education Center to begin our work with Edna and the schools.  Cooking by headlamp and watching the storms roll in from our porch, became daily routines.  We shared our comfortable home with a few little critters as well!

   After three failed attempts, we were finally able to get our visa for India.  It took a few days to complete the pickup and payment, so we spent a little time hanging out in Kampala.  We even had some time to look at some traditional houses and cultural artifacts at the national museum.

   We had a wonderful time getting to know Fulge and his family.  We ended up staying in Luweero longer than expected (due to our visa troubles), but that gave us time to help out with a few home improvement projects, while having a peaceful place to do some writing as well.  As you can see from the photos, we had lots of little helpers!  During our stay, we became affectionately known as "the teacher and the carpenter."

  We had an amazing day visiting the Bush School with another new couchsurfing friend, Fulge.  We had a warm welcome everywhere we went.

   We received a warm welcome to sunny Uganda from our new couchsurfing friend, Francis, and his neighbors.  We stayed for two nights in Entebbe before heading to Kampala to sort out our visas for India.

   Here are some parting shots from our time in Ribnica, Slovenia. Woodcrafts are abundant in this area, so Allie had no shortage of material to write about!

   After a stop at the mill to grind some wheat, we headed to the spectacular Postojna Caves.  They are over 20km long!  In the afternoon, Allie did a little writing while Kurt went mushroom hunting with Dani.  As you can see from the photos their efforts paid off, and we were treated to a fantastic evening treat.
