Wambabya Forest, Uganda

Forest Walk

Natural beauty...We collected some of these seeds to use for craft projects at the EC.

The chimps often use these trees as drums to call to each other in the forest.  We saw chimp nests too!

Kurt got his first taste of jackfruit and sugarcane, thanks to a local villager we passed as we exited the forest.

We took a walk with the chimpanzee census team through the great Wambabya Forest.  It is the largest remaining span of forest in Uganda, and is under threat due to encroaching agriculture, population growth and recently discovered oil deposits near Lake Albert.
